You Are Good Enough

Sunday January 18 2015.

I posted this on my FB page so that my friends who missed the service for what ever reason would know what they had missed. It is a short version of course and it is mostly what I remembered beings has how I did not write any thing down, I have tried taken notes but it makes me miss so much and besides I can’t read my own hand writing once it gets could.

What another beautiful day the Lord has made. I wished I could be positive about it but that wind is making it hard, Okay that confession is out-of-the-way.
Once we got inside out of the wind it was warm and inviting with all the church body being there. Well we did have a few missing. Charles did an outstanding job again this morning in Sunday school. I can’t wait till next week to hear how Jesus, 100% man, had the same pains and trials that we suffer and yet came through it for us.
Oh the Praise team did a wonderful job! Bob led the music since Brad was out. Bob really blessed us when he sang Long Black Train, All the music put everyone in worship mode,
Sheldon’s sermon was God inspired and right on. When he was talking about growing up in the church, how that they were there every time the door was open Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night was right on the money.
Even though he grew up on the other side of the World from where I lived in Borger Texas, it sounded exactly the same. The only thing that sounded different was that his uncle was the pastor. I never got to know our pastor, sure I saw him every time we were there but I never knew him. Sheldon talked about how the Jews would raise their sheep so that they could take it to sacrifice to God only to be told that it was not good enough by the religious leaders of that time. He told us how that we were all told that we weren’t good enough at some things. Then he read Matthew 5:1-12 where Jesus told the people that they were blessed: no matter what.
I think what drove it home the best was the story about how he went with a man into the prison to talk with the prisoners. How that man got up in front of all those convicts and told them that the only difference was that they got caught and he did not. Then the man told them one more thing that most of them had never heard . That no matter what you have done, Jesus says you are good enough.

Do Good People go to Heaven

I know it has been since July of last year that I have written on this blog.  I hope you can forgive me for that. I have been tied up with all kinds of excuses but some recent happening in my life and things going on around the world, is letting me know that time is running out. I need to be about telling others about my Savior Jesus Christ.

A Christian brother of mine gave me a book to read the other day. He is the senior pastor of the church I go to. He has retired but is steal active in the church. Some of the older men meet at a local doughnut shop every Wednesday morning.  He had a book for each one of us to read, I had to leave early so I am not sure what we are going to do with the book. I started reading it and I could not put it down.  The tittle of the book is Since Nobody’s Perfect, How Good is Good enough? By Andy Stanley.

I will not tell every thing about the book, because I feel you should find a copy and read it your self, then make you on choice to believe it or not. I all ready know the answer and it is found in John 3:16 of the New Testament of The Bible. I feel that this book explains it better than I could probably tell it. I would just like to tell brother George Haddok thank you for the book and I can’t wait for us to talk about it next week.

What in the World is going on?

First of all I am a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ. I love Him and I try the best this old human being can to follow Him. I am not perfect but I strive to be, and I also try not to use the excuse that there was only one perfect man and that was Jesus.

Okay I understand that there are several types of religion on this earth and I know that every one pretty much say that they are the only ones to follow. Some say you have to do good works to get into heaven, and others say you have to hate everyone who does not believe the way they do and that you have to die by killing the un-believers and then you will go to heaven. Well I am here to say that the only way is to believe that Jesus Christ came to this world born to a virgin died for your sins and arose again on that 3rd day. I know that sounds too easy but it is true. John 3:16 says 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

God loves each and every one of us no matter what we have said, or have done, I do mean anything I or we have done. There is only one Sin that will keep you out of heaven and that is blasphemy the Holy Spirit Jesus said in Matthew 12:31 “And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” In case you do not understand what this means is that if you do not accept Jesus He will not send the Holy Spirit to come in your life. So all other sins no matter what He will forgive, so right now where ever you are just put everything out of your thoughts and ask Jesus to come in to your heart and He will, then go out and tell everyone what you have done. Praise God that I live in a country where I can freely tell people about having God in my life and I know there or countries where if you do you will die so there I say be careful but no matter what you belong to God and you will always be His no matter what happiness.

I still Praise my Lord that I live in the United States of America. And I know that we as Christians or now being attacked by the devil. I have really never said much about what is going on but we has Christians need to make our voices heard, we have let people take prayer out of schools, take the ten commandments out of our courts, take the nativity sense out of our parks at Christmas time and so on. All other so-called religions can do whatever they want in public but we as Christ follower cannot because we might offend some one, give me a break if they do not believe in Him than what should it matter to them? I have some what is called gay kinfolks, I love them as people even though I do not agree with what they or doing, it is not for me to judge. Jesus says in Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. I am not going to say that I understand everything in the Bible but I do believe it is the inspired Word of God, and I also believe God is a loving God and that he will not tell me to do something wrong by hurting other people, so if we do not have love what good is believing in God. 1 John 4:8 says “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love”. We are to love our enemies, Matthew 5:43-48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. …

Okay I have gotten that off of my chest and I know that I did not explain what all I wanted to get across but at least I said something. I have felt guilty for years because I was afraid to say anything due to I might offend someone. Well I love God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit and I know that I will be with Him no matter what happens to me here on earth. I just want all to be there with me so if I haven’t turned you off by my non perfect explanation than please talk with Jesus and invite Him into your heart. The way things are happening around the word I would not take too long to accept Him.

In God I trust

I was reading the verse for today in Psalm, it was talking about a song written when the Philistines had seized David in Gath. David was saying that even when he was afraid he put his trust in God. In God he praised, and in God he would trust and not be afraid what could mere mortals do to him. While I was reading this I thought of how we as American’s are trying to take God out of the US and it makes me sick. For In God I trust and as David said what can mere mortals do to me. You know it is true that when people die they are scared of the unknown but us as Christians die we know that we are going to be with the Farther in Heaven so that is why we say we are not afraid to die.

I think about how people are afraid of what our Government is doing to us as a people. I know it is all politics and about the big bucks but let me tell you no matter what they do they cannot take God away from me and even if they take my life I know I will be in a better place. God put us on this earth for a short time and when I go to be with Him there will be no more pain, no more worry about mere possession. My wish and prayer is that every person in this old place we call home earth, would give their life to Christ and then this whole world would be a better place to live.

Psalm 56:3-4

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?

God Always Gets Blamed

This is what I took away from Sunday school today. God seems to always get blamed when things go bad. We probably all have said it at one time or another God why did you let this happen or how can there be a God who would let bad things happen to good people. Our God is a loving God and He does have big shoulders and can handle anything thrown His way. When disaster strikes like the tornado in Oklahoma, flooding, fires, are even diseases like cancer, God did not cause these things to happen they just do. But God can use these bad things to turn whatever it is around to do good for us. Have you ever noticed how these things bring the good out in people around you, I know there are still bad people in this world who take advantage of people, and that is going to happen and even then God can work with that. God does not want any of us to suffer in hell he wants us all to be with Him in Heaven. So through all the bad things that happen in life even to good people God can use these things to bring people to Him.

God can use the different circumstances to let His people help the ones that are in pain over losing a loved one, our losing everything in a storm.  We can be there to listen if they just need to talk, help them rebuild, our even tell them how they can have the peace that only Jesus can give. In Galatians, Paul tells how because he was sick that it gave him the opportunity to preach to the Galatians.

Galatians 4:13

13 As you know, it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you,

In Philippians Paul was thrown in jail even though he did not do anything wrong. He was imprisoned for preaching Christ and he did not let it bother him and by his actions he was able to proclaim Christ.

Philippians 1:12-13

12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

People think that just because they have given their life to Christ that everything will be a breeze and that nothing will ever go wrong in their life again. Well I have news for them that is when the devil will strike the most because before you were his and he did not need to mess with you. So if satan is giving you problems and people persecuting you that you need to celebrate for that is a sure sign that you belong to God.

2 Timothy 3:12

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

A Church Divided Over Leaders

Have you ever been in a church where the church leaders do not, will not, agree with each other about how and in what direction the church body should go. I have been a member of and have seen other churches where the pastor and are an elder, or deacon would not listen to any one it was either their way or the highway. Also I have seen members of the church say I do not like the way this church leader is trying to get us to go. The church is the people and the people or to be like Christ so we are to love and respect each other and lead each other to be more like Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:10-17

10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas[b]”; still another, “I follow Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

We who are strong

With this title you are probably thinking of weight lifter, or a fighter of some sort, well that is not the case here. I am talking about the ones who are strong spiritually, the ones who have accepted Jesus Christ and who walk with Him daily. We need to be there for the week the ones who are babies in Christ and are just learning about what they need to do to be a strong Christen. We are to lead others to Christ and then teach them to do the same. Praise be to God that he brought the plane of salvation to the Gentiles also. Before Christ you had to be Jewish to be one of God’s chosen people but through His son Jesus we are now also His through adoption. So remember when people persecute you and say insulting things to you that just as Christ sill loved and treated these people with respect we are to do the same. Jesus says it better in Romans 15.

Romans 15:1-13

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name.” 10 Again, it says, “Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.” 11 And again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; let all the peoples extol him.” 12 And again, Isaiah says, “The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.” 13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Should we bother God with the little things? II

Today was another wonderful day in the Lord. During Sunday school we have been praying for a little 4 year boy who had a tumor and had to have surgery on the back of his head. We had pray for Gods intervention on this boy and our wonderful God did just that, when the doctors did the surgery last week they got the tumor and they also did not have to do as much as was feared. This morning the little one was in our class room eating a sausage and biscuit and he was ready to go play. We never know what God is doing in our live and or why, but what we do know is that He “fixes things at the time they need fixing.” And this is in His time not our time, God is a mighty God.
In our lesson we continued where we left off last week on how God guides us through life. Some people thank that when they give their life to God that everything will be like a bed of roses and they can just set back and take it easy. Well think again the moment that you give your life to Christ that old mean devil starts attacking you in hopes that he can make you fail. As we learned last week we are not robots, God gave us a free will and how we choose to live with or without Him is up to us. Once we do accept Him we are to read and apply His word in our lives, the more we put our self’s in Him the more we will want to do His will. In Psalms 38: 8-9 tells us that God hears us even when we or in pain and groaning. 8 I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart. 9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. So when we are down and hurting just remember He hears you and He is there to help you come out of it we are to open His word and let Him open up to us through it. Just get quiet and talk with Him but the most important thing is to lesson with our heart and do as He says. Matthew 22:37 says 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Should we bother God with the little things?

We had such a great lesson today in Sunday school; last week Claude asked a question should we ask God if it is ok to eat two donuts? I know we do some joking around, but then we get serious and down to business. So Charles studded up on it in the Bible and we discussed it, we are to turn to God by reading His Word and praying to Him. II Timothy 3:16-17 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Then we are to build a relationship with God for when we get to know Him well enough we will know the answer to some of the things we ask Him. Linda put it this way which helped me to understand. She asked some of the children at church, what would your mother say if you asked her for a cookie just before supper? The answer was no, What would your mother say if you asked her to let you go to a sleep over at a friend’s house on a school night? The Answer would be no. Can I have some more carrots please? The answer would be yes. Then she asked how do you know what answer your mom would give to these questions? They said because we have lived long enough with mom to know what she would say. So if we have that relationship with Jesus Christ then we would know what the answer would be about the two donuts.

Do it for the Lord, Colossians 3:17 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:23-24 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Tune in next week for more; of course we would love to have you there in person so come on in next Sunday 09:15. The class is the first door on the right, right after you pass the Cookies, rolls, donuts, sausage and biscuits, and what every else we have plus coffee, water, and juice I think for I always get coffee. Is their sin in our Churches?

As bad as it hurts me to say this yes we do have sin in or churches. After all we are only human and that is no excuse, we are not perfect and never will be for there was only one perfect person and that was Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Lord we strive to be more like Him. But when we argue with each other, or jealous of one another, gossip about each other, and on and on with these things we are sinning against each other and against God. If we do anything to hurt someone or cause them to not come to God or fall away from God we are told that we should have a mill stone tied around our necks and dumped into the sea. This is one reason people call us hypocrites because we act so religious at church and so non-religious the rest of the week.

None of us want to think that we are sinning or causing trouble for the church but we do some times, and we as christen  should be able to go up to someone and say to them that this is not right and maybe you should think about what you are doing. We all know how hard it is to talk with people because we fill that it is none of our business. Then if we do confront them and they do not change what they are doing we are to get together with two or three others and go talk with them again, and if that does not work we are to bring it to the church body. This troubles me a lot also for I have seen churches split over the color of carpet being put into the church, I know that this is satan’s doing and this is why we are to treat them like you would to someone hurting your family. By doing this we hope and pray that they might see what they are doing wrong and turn away from it. My prayer for me is that if anyone sees me not living as I should as being one of God’s children that they would come up to me lovingly tell me so that I can correct it.

Dealing With Sin in the Church

Matthew 18:15-20

15 “If your brother or sister sins go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will beloosed in heaven.

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
